Can we live off the food we forage ourselves in the cityscape?
Dan Meylemans explores this future in his project “Future Food”. In the project, Meylemans invited participants to go foraging and then cooked for them, using the foraged plants.
The goal of these experiments is to make people reflect about the sustainability and ethics of the food that we consume. The experiment shows people that food is all around us, by being

more observant and eager to learn we can benefit of its possibilities.
The provocation and contradiction lies in the fact that many of the plants used in this experiment are considered as “bad weeds” or “wild plants”. Plants that are labelled as undesirable by our society.
The participants in the experiment were shocked to find edible food in Norway in November. This fundamentally challenged their idea of where food could come from.
